27th November
Today, we visited the BFI (British Film Industry) located in South Bank. We spent the day listening to a presentation presented by an experienced media teacher. Prano Bailey-Bond, A music video director also attended and showed us the videos she's directed, we also took a glimpse at the planning stages that contribute towards a successful music video.
Additionally, both of them gave us advice and top 10 points to consider when planning for our
music video
1) Assess your resources
So ensure to gather everything such as props, locations timeframe etc..
2)Always warm up
When you're about to lipsync or do a photoshoot, you'll need to prepare.
3)Reece
Plan camera angles, shots as well as risk assessment before filming.
4)Pitch the whole package
Summarise the premise of the music video so the narrative can come across
5)Plans Vs Ideas
Planning over spontaneity; spontaneous ideas are hard to implement and can ruin the MV.
6)Schedule
Ensure that performers are prepared. So, knowing their lyrics, actions when filming.
7)Shoot
It's ideal to experiment with different shots/angles so shoot atleast 10 times with different set ups. (Shoot lots of close ups)
8)Editing
Things to consider when editing: appropriate software, high cut ratio (atleast 100 cuts to be used), upload rough edits to blogs to justify future adjustments.
9)Evidence is Vital
Research is essential in a successful project. We all have to start from somewhere:Tracking progress daily can be very useful. (VLOGS,behind the scenes, images)
10)Evaluation
It must be instinctive and exciting. The layout should be thought about before beginning this.
