Last year explained
Last year, we were assigned to produce a three minute opening sequence of our chosen genre. My group's opening sequence was called 'Exo-Spirit' falling under the Sci-fi/Dystopian category. The plot consisted of a typical villain which happened to be a dictator striking to brainwash innocent civilians so they can obey his orders. The clip shows a scientist working for him injecting a hazardous liquid into an innocent civilian causing her to become susceptible to suggestion.
Here is the full sequence:
We were involved in the pre production - so we've each split tasks between ourselves, we all had our allocated role in producing either the script, storyboard, Production Schedule, researching locations or risk assessment. Once that was completed, we've spent roughly two weeks doing the the production stage which was to begin filming with suitable equipment such as Nikon DSLR camera and tripod. After, Post production stage took place as we gathered all footage and began to edit using Adobe premiere pro software usually on a Mac PC. We sent another two to three weeks editing then eventually adding special effects/transitions and credits using another one of Adobe's programs, After effects.
Before beginning production, we took part in a preliminary task in order to familiarise ourselves with the stages of the production process. We spent the first few lessons planning storyboard, filming and editing footage in order to display well-known camera techniques such as Match on action, 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot which was demonstrated well in our O.S. Throughout performing these tasks, we've tracked our progress through a blog which was made on wix. Each of us had our own account and regularly posted what had been done daily as well as display further research that will benefit the opening sequence.
In conclusion to finalising our completed sequence, we were given seven explanatory questions regarding our storyline. These were the questions...
In my answers, I've clearly outlined the forms/conventions of our genre and how it attracted our target audience of Young adults.
