Initial Ideas
Theme : Relationships
Our main concept of the narrative is for the artist to express how depressed she's feeling over an unrequited lover- which turns out to be her best friend's boyfriend..
The video shows to our audience the main artist's thoughts everyday at 3:16am. We're first introduced to her bedroom, the only setting where Ella can collate her thoughts and emotions towards this boy. She's shown holding a previous photo of all three of them together on their day out. Due to her prolonged jealousy of them two being together, she cuts out the best friend and sticks herself and the boy together, she aims to keep it safe so that nobody (especially the best friend) can see this. Her internal emotions continue to show when she falls asleep into a deep dream - the setting then illuminates into the forest where the artist is expressing her grief in terms of performance, she feels isolated and she visualizes him being there in the forest with her.
Things have turned up a notch when we're taken into a different scene- the day of the photo being taken. The 3 of them are shown hanging out in a town centre where we see more of him and the best friend being intimate. This also shows Ella's burning fury as she watches them from the side or from behind throughout- again, she's isolated here but it's much worse as the love of her life is right in front of her.
In the town setting, there's a moment where Ella fantasises holding his hand which is the moment she cherishes the most - the close up on her face expression shows she's simply enjoying his company and doesn't want to let go. They then go back to Ella's house. Once they arrive, they continue to chill - however, the bestfriend goes to her bedroom to get something but finds the photo, she walks to find Ella flirting with him making her realize that she likes him more than a friend- this causes her to walk out angrily.
We're taken back into the Forest where the artist's emotions elevate, she cannot take this anymore and is on the verge of a mental breakdown - she would do almost anything to have this boy.
Finally, the video ends back into the bedroom where it started - the Artist's dream has ended and wakes up in shock but is relieved that these events never took place. The only real evidence of her obsession for him is shown with the cut up photo. As we're back to the Equilibrium - the artist's feelings haven't changed for him and has to continue living everyday knowing that they can never be together.

We originally chose to do Black Eyed Peas - where is the love? Which was suggested by my other group member, Fardowsa. As a group we discussed how the themes raised can be relatable and raise awareness to individuals. This will also enable our target audience to be much broader.
Then we ended up doing 3:16am and began planning a storyline, the storyline is explained below...
I considered the song Bad Day by Daniel Powter - originally, he falls under the Genre Pop/Piano rock. I've considered this because the narrative is relatable and focuses on more than love. It's aboutgoing through bad days once in a while (at work, school or anywhere else) and learning that things will get better
One of my group members, Aisha considered Too Little too late by Pop/R&B singer JoJo - we discussed about our potential target audience which are aimed at early to mid teenagers. She's fulfilled the conventions of her genre by basing it on love.
We also discussed taking on Tori Kelly's Should've been us' which again focuses on love/relationships. Also, Jessie J's 'Who you are' which focuses on self acceptance. Our potential target audience will fit into mid teenage girls which are the main grup of people who can relate to this.
I came up with 3:16am by R&B artist - Jhene Aiko. Jhene's songs are calm. She tends to express her feelings by focusing on her past. The potential target audience are adolescence as themes exposed in this song are rather explicit.
Here, we began drawing our storyboard and discussing initial ideas
